Ich habe seit vielen Jahren einen ausländischen Führerschein (Nicht-EU-Land) und musste bei der Umschreibung eine Kontrollfahrt machen. Ich habe vor der Kontrollfahrt ca. 5 Fahrstunden bei Mike gemacht und dachte mir, jetzt muss alles klappen. Klappte es aber nicht - meine alten Heimatreflexe setzten ein und ich habe die Kontrollfahrt nicht bestanden. Danach haben wir mit Mike sehr ausführlich darüber gesprochen, was fehlte und was meine Bedürfnisse waren (häufigere Lektionen, um das „Schweizer Fahren“ zu automatisieren, Aufmerksamkeit auf Unterschiede in den Verkehrsregeln zwischen meiner Heimat und der Schweiz, spezifische Erwartungen von Experten während der Prüfung usw.) und mit ca. 13 zusätzliche Lektionen (und das ganze Schweizer Programm von Papierkram, Theorie und VKU dazwischen) habe ich die Prüfung bei 1. Versuch bestanden. Mike ist sehr zuverlässig, flexibel und aufmerksam, seine beruhigende und etwas (selbst-)ironische Art hat mir geholfen, mit der Angst umzugehen (was einer der Gründe war, warum ich überhaupt bei Kontrollfahrt gescheitert bin). Insgesamt kann ich Mike uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen.

It has been a year after my immigration to Switzerland so my foreign driver's licences was not valid in Switzerland any longer. I had to pass a test (Kontrollfahrt) with an examiner from the local road police. To prepare for this driving test I took some driving lessons from Mike Knecht in Basel. I was very stressed because of the exam and that I had only one attempt: if I did not pass the exam from the first try, I would have to pass the whole program for learner-drivers from zero and many exams. The lessons with Mike went very well despite my limitations in speaking English and German. Early morning on the exam day we had the last warm-up ride together which cheered me up. I was able to communicate and drive and learn with Mike which helped my to successfully pass the exam! I am very thankful for that!

The Swiss driving exam is no easy thing, and although I have 10+ years of driving experience abroad, I would not have successfully passed without additional lessons and Mike's advice. Несмотря на значительный опыт вождения в Беларуси и небольшой в Европе, я решил взять несколько уроков с местным инструктором. В итоге с Майком у нас было 4 занятия (по 95 франков за каждое). Сопровождение в день экзамена обошлось в 190 франков. Экзамен я сдал успешно, и советы от Майка определённо пригодились.

Ich fahre seit über 30 Jahren Auto. Doch jetzt war es an der Zeit, meinen ukrainischen Führerschein gegen einen schweizerischen einzutauschen. Ich schrieb Mike, er rief mich zurück, und wir vereinbarten ein Treffen. Parallel dazu reichte ich die Unterlagen für den Austausch ein. Vor der Prüfung hatten wir drei Fahrstunden. In der ersten Stunde gewöhnte ich mich an das Auto, da ich bisher nur mit Schaltgetriebe gefahren war. Mike ist das Musterbeispiel an Geduld und Ruhe! Selbst mit meinem Deutsch auf A2-Niveau habe ich alles verstanden. Während der Fahrt gab er kurze Hinweise und Erklärungen, und am Ende erklärte er mir, welche Fehler ich gemacht habe. Am Tag der Prüfung machten wir noch eine Fahrt in Richtung MFK und besprachen, welche Besonderheiten es bei der Prüfung geben könnte. Der Prüfer war streng, aber das Endergebnis war positiv – ich habe die Prüfung bestanden! Und ich habe bereits meinen schweizerischen Führerschein erhalten! Allen, die ihren Führerschein in der Schweiz umtauschen wollen, empfehle ich, Fahrstunden bei Mike zu nehmen. Er ist ein echter Profi und ein sehr angenehmer Mensch! Danke, Mike!
